Although I think the line for when ...Yes, Whiners. Although I think the line for when to medicate, and when not, might still err more on the side of medicating, when the media might judge not or question (not that they or I are a doctor), because I know EXACTLY how debilitating impulsivity problems, and attention problems can be. In fact, I kinda wonder if those, gone untreated, kind of cascaded into a whole host of other problems as I grew up . . .

but I CAN say, over more than three decades, no matter how hard I try to restrain the impulses, I can't. There are frequent times, no matter how hard I try to focus, I can't.

So what you say later, about how the article perhaps might be minimizing the distress/importance of some of these problems, makes sense to me.

With all that said, though, I do feel that many mild, or moderate but transitory (transitory, to me, being half a year or less) things are medicated, PERHAPS unneceesarily.

It's the "fix it now" generation; a generation with little tolerance for hardship, inconvenience, difficulty, discomfort, or heaven forbid, even PAIN. I'm embarrassed by that, although I am fully aware of this every time I pop a pill for a headache . . . lol! Then again, I have a real proble with patience . . . part of my focusing problem. I try, though.

I feel the trend sometimes becomes to medicate life experiences. Then again, there's a GREAT deal and amount of judgement call(s) that psychiatrists have to make; there are probably frequently people at, 2 months out from the death of a loved one, where their functioning is seriously impaired and/or they are suicidal . . . so I don't envy the docs all these decisions.Sarebearhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09208596053319110470noreply@blogger.com
