It's just not right!! You guys talk about fish, ducks, Roy's puppy, etch. All that's missing is a good goat story. Who cares if it isn't about psychiatry?!?!?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26666124.post-88022478096757786632009-10-28T22:55:01.754-04:002009-10-28T22:55:01.754-04:00Clinkshrink, I appreciate your post. I'm the ...Clinkshrink, I appreciate your post. I'm the one who posted about watching my cousin grow up in this horrible environment and how the state did nothing to help get him out. It was all about mom and her illness. For years.

I think the last anonymous poster makes an excellent point. They give parents like my aunt so many chances to harm their children. The point at which they finally decide enough is enough the child is too old and emotionally scarred to be placed. Any professional who couldn't have predicted the outcome in my cousin's situation wasn't paying attention.

How many chances should a parent get? If mom doesn't qualify for a driver's license because she's drunk all the time and wrecked so many cars, then how do they come to the conclusion she's a fit parent? I don't get it. Preserving the "family" was not in my cousin's best interest, and really he's no longer a child, he's legally an adult now. I don't even begin to know what he went through all these years. It's unbelievable how many chances my aunt was given to screw him up.

I'm usually very much on the side of patient rights, but when the parent isn't taking care of herself, then she (or he) has no business taking care of a child.

For me, it's not a person's diagnosis that's the issue. It's the behavior.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26666124.post-75491836382435547042009-10-28T20:03:47.438-04:002009-10-28T20:03:47.438-04:00Do you mean "impressed" in a positive wa...Do you mean "impressed" in a positive way or a negative way? Because I know I am not impressed; it pisses me off.

When the court places the child back in the home again and again with the same parent who is mistreating him or her, that is hurting the child. I am not speaking of parents with mental illnesses here either; the parents could either have a diagnosis or not. Why preserve a family unit that shouldn't be preserved just so that the child can live with his or her "biological" parent(s), that's what I do not understand.

I say, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Keep fooling me, and I'm a bloomin' idiot.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26666124.post-69103626172680973362009-10-25T23:24:00.972-04:002009-10-25T23:24:00.972-04:00please read this one:
